6 Ventpils iela

This is the address where my mother and her family lived for a while in the 1930's. In Latvia, a small Baltic country that has been under occupation by Russia or Germany at various times throughout much of it's history, although it regained it's independence in 1991.

I chose to scrap this photo for a challenge to share something of our heritage, at All About Me challenge blog. (I love how the wood grain paper (October Afternoon - Sasparilla) picks up the wood fence in the photo.)
The leaf is cut with the Cricut, from woodgrain shelf paper. I know, how fabulous is that, right??
We'd love to have you join us with a layout about YOUR family heritage...your descendants will be glad you did, and so will we!! When you do, link up to the post at All About Me and we'll stop by to leave you some love!!

  2. Oh your layout is absolutely gorgeous! It was such a surprise to see a layout with Latvian text on it, after getting here from Cath's blog! I am from Latvia and just love when people remember or even know about our country!
There is just one teeny tiny thing I would like to add - there is an s missing in the word Ventspils, but I suppose that's ok cause the idea and memories are the ones that matter most.
Sending absolutely large amount of greetings from Latvia,
    Hugs,
    Liva

  6. Liva! Thank you for commenting!! Actually, somehow I think I knew there should be an "s" in Ventspils, but couldn't find it written anywhere to confirm that, so thank you for the heads up!!

I visited Latvia with my mom in 2003. It's a very beautiful country! Thanks again for saying hello!!
