Homemade embellishments...

Hi everyone!  We have a fresh challenge posted at Challenge Me Happy and it's all about making your own embellishments out of things you have in your stash!  Or maybe, things that you wouldn't normally think of as scrappy supplies!

Remember that post I did recently about piling on bits of punched pieces and die cuts?  Well, I used one of those pieces for this layout and decided that it was all the page needed.  Simple and done!

The embellishment consists of a Sizzix die cut corrugated star, an EK Success snowflake punched from  music paper and a button.  Then I smeared some silver paint on the ridges to mimic snow, since the layout is about one of our snowboard trips last winter.

I also had fun piecing random strips of patterned paper and sewing them in diagonal strips opposite to the stripes on the background paper.  So that they wouldn't be too visually overwhelming, I softened the look with a layer of vellum.  (I've discovered a new/old love for vellum again!)

Please jump over and check out what the rest of the Challenge Me Happy design team did for this challenge and then add your own layout to our Mr Linky for a chance to win!!
