Cardabilities Sketch #109

Hi all!  Here's another card for you inspired by Sketch #109 at Cardabilities!

I had the idea this time that I'd like to incorporate a stamp, a die AND an embossing folder!  I'm sure there's a more accurate way to accomplish this, but for now, I'm pretty happy with the results.  Yes, the stamp overlapped the top card stock (it was supposed to stay on the bottom layer of card stock only) but  I decided to embrace imperfection.

On that note.  Did you know that the Amish quilters purposely stitch a flaw into their quilts??  Because "perfection belongeth unto the Lord".  Not even kidding about that!  That's some awesome confidence in your own skills.

Aaaanyway…  Here's the sketch we used.  And you can too!

And the cards I came up with using that sketch.  I still can't decide which I like better, so you're getting to see them both!

So, I positioned the die onto the card stock and cut it out, then ran that piece through the embossing folder.  I accented the brick design with lightly brushing a sponge applicator and distress ink.
The tricky part is to stamp the image below EXACTLY where it should be, so that the top layer perfectly surounds, but doesn't obstruct the image.
I like this technique so happily I'll be trying it a few more times and in the process, hope to figure out how to achieve perfection.  In card making at least.
The stamp and die are from Papertrey Ink, the wood veneers are Recollections from Michaels and the gold foil leaf was cut with a Lawn Fawn die.  As well, the "hello awesome" sticker is from Cosmo Cricket.
Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to jump over to the Cardabilities blog to see what the rest of the team created, and to link your card too!
