Coffee gift cards....

Hi, hello!  A two post day!  Scroll on down for the #12daysofholidaygiftwrap project I've posted for Love is in the Details.

I'm sharing these coffee gift card holders today at Jane's Doodles, but the behind the scenes and how-to photos are over here!

I began by purchasing this cut file from Silhouette and using it to cut out the shapes from colored card stock.  (Design ID @29511)  The really nice part, is that they've already figured out the correct sizes so that you can just import the file and cut the designs without any changes and know they'll fit a standard gift card.

I modified the design slightly to create something I've seen on Pinterest.  I cut the foldable cup in half, and then using the cup lid for a template, cut the lid portion off the cups.

Using all the snowflake stamps from the Warm Wishes and Driving Home for Christmas stamp sets, I  covered the cups with snowflakes and white, heat embossed them.

Then, using the cup cozy from the original pattern as a template, I cut the cozies from corrugated cardboard to mimic those of that giant, iconic, coffee shop outfit.  You know the one I mean

I used my narrowest Sookwang tape to glue the front and back together.  It's important to run the adhesive very close to the edge to allow room for the gift card.  (You could also increase the size of the Silhouette cut file before you cut to give you more room for adhesive.)

The lid of the cup holder is also two pieces; a front and back.  The tape is laid around the very edges on the top and sides, leaving the bottom open, and with a small glue dot holding the gift card in place, it's wedged firmly into the lid so that you can pull the lid up and the gift card with it.

I used the cup images from the Coffee Time and the tea bag from the TEArrific stamp sets along with  a variety of sentiments from the Christmas and beverage stamp sets to create the Copic colored images.

Thanks for stopping by today!  If you have any questions about anything I've shown you here, leave it in the comments section and I'll get back to you with answers!

Have a great day!

  3. Thanks for sharing your coffee gift cards. I actually just bought the same Silhouette file and was searching for ideas on how to spice it up. You gave me great some some inspiration. I'm sending a gift card to my daughter in college. She will love it.
